Kenneth Lambert, Battalion Fire Chief for the Bedford Twp. Volunteer Fire Department, and the husband of Mrs. Lambert, ISS at Bedford High School, has been nominated for America’s Most Wanted’s ALL-STAR Heroes Award for his courageous efforts last year in assisting a bus driver who was experiencing medical issues while transporting kids in Monroe, Michigan.
Go to the website www.amw.com/allstar to read Ken Lambert’s full story. Where it says “Search Nominees” put in “Lambert” and it will take you to his picture and story. Read at least four other stories. If you were to vote, which one of the five stories you read would you vote for and why? Could you see yourself risking your life for someone else? You can then VOTE for the All-Star Hero if you choose.

i read ken lambert, don dougan, tim horne, jillian moore and mark lynde. i believe that ken lambert is so courageous he should win, but on the other hand don dougan found and arrested a convict that was convicted for raping & killing a 14 year old girl back in the 60's. the man he arrested had been featured on 'americas most wanted' and officer dougan didnt flip! i would of been scared! i would risk my life for someone else, not that i dont care about my life, its just that other people deserve a life too and if it takes mine then there it be. i would not risk my life for anybody, but in any case it would take my judgement and lets just say that i wouldnt ever have to make that decision. i think that maybe ken lambert and don dougan are tied and such.

Ken Lamberts story is pretty brave but i think that Don Dougan was great for arrested someone who raped a girl. Those kind of stories disgust me and i'm glad that they caught the guy. I don't think i would risk my life for others only because i have a fear of dying and wouldn't want it to happen. Maybe for someone who i really cared about.

I would choose Deputy Alicia Davenport because she was the first officer to arrive on scene in a hospital where shooting occurred. The man killed two nurses and a hospital visitor. The victim refused to put the gun down and was shot by a backup officer. I think it is important to help other people, especially if they are in need. I could save someone else’s life because if you save someone else they are bound to save you. I have known too many people that have died so I would definitely save a life.

ReplyDeleteThe person I would vote for is Jason Fishburn. Jason stopped a vehicle that was involved with a three-time homicide, the driver of the vehichle got out of the car and started to run. Knowing that the driver was armed and dangerous, Jason still chased after him to arrest him. Jason suffered from wounds in the head and in the chest. Jason's story was really brave and stuck out from the rest of the stories that I read. Thats why I voted for him.

I read the stories of Ken Lambert, Desmond Branston, Ed Collins, Daniel Sowles, and Mark Lynde. If I were to vote on one of these five people, I would probably vote for Desmond Branston because he stepped in on a gun fight between a fellow officer and a dangerous robber. He saved the officers life and caught the robber. I could not see myself risking my life to save another persons life unless it was somebody close to me.

I think what Lambert did was amazing, but if I was going to vote, I would probably vote for Shawn Cronce. She has worked many years to insure the saftey of children, especially against internet offenders. She also works with children in the D.A.R.E program and has won several awards for her work.

I read Ken Lambert, Tim Horne, Sandy Yelton, Troy Bland, and Mark Lynde. I think that Ken Lambert should win because of his bravery and courage. He calmed down the kids, and he helped bring attention to the bus driver while waiting for medical attention. I would risk my life for someone else because I would not want to know that someone's life was taken, when I could have stopped it.

I would choose volunteer firefighter Casey Wallace because he put his life on the line to save his neighbors from their burning house in the middle of the night. I don't know if I would risk my life for a random stranger but if it were someone i really loved, then I would.

I agree with brendan because all though Ken Lamberts story was brave i think it was braver to step into a gun fight and save an officers life and arrest the robber like Desmond Branston. i dont think i would risk my life to save another persons life unless it is someone i really cared about.

The story I would vote for would be Officer Kenneth Lambert. Because he did a life or death situation kind of thing, and that’s big. He risked his own life to protect innocent lives, including the driver going through an ill problem. Yes, I can actually see my self risking my life for a family member and even a complete stranger. Because what little I do affects the outcome, and i want that outcome to be a good thing.

What Ken Lambert did was real brave, however I'm going to have to go with Dorminey McCrae's story. He stepped in at a robbery at the local "piggly wiggly" to the offender holding two women in a back room at gun point and saved several lives that night. It would depend on the situation, if it was a total stranger and they provoked it, then i highly doubt i would, but if it was anyone close to me, if I didn't make an attempt to step in, and something happened to them, I'd have to live with that the rest of my life.

I agree with janelle that Mr. Lambert is very courageous but i would have to go with Deputy Kyle Doolen. Mr. Doolen Doolen followed in hot pursuit of a stolen camaro nearing speeds of 110 mph. During the highway chase the Camaro lowered its convertible top and one of the boys fired at Deputy Doolen's car hitting it five times. One of them got him in the arm. After a long chase the camaro came to a stop and the three victims scattered. Later that day all of the victims were found and put into custody. I don't think that I would be able to risk my life to save someone else's. Sorry i am a coward.
ReplyDeleteI agree with all of the other people my classmates have chose, but overall I think Ken Lambert gets my vote. Not only was what he did extremely brave, but it's not like the others who only saved one or two lives. He saved potentially 32 lives which is an automatic hero in my book. I don't think I would risk my life to save someone else's unless it was a family member or someone that I cared about. Unless it was a shark attack, I would defiately go and save the person's life no matter who it was.

If I were to vote I would vote for Thomas kelly. Because he just jumped into this large body of water to save someone who was stuck in a stinking car that was 50 feet from shore, and sinking. He didn't even know the person. I like to help people and I would probably risk my life for someone especially for someone that I love very much.

i would vote for kenneth lambert. yes i would put my life on the line for someone else

I would have to say Lambert is the best hero. He saved many lives; childrens lives and a ill bus driver. These kids now get to go on and live their lives to the fullest thanks to him. Who knnows maybe those kids will help our world some day. ITs an amazingly brave thing he did. He's my number one.
ReplyDeleteMITCH KELLY
Ken Lambert’s story is pretty amazing, but out of the five stories I read my favorite would have to be Richard Bowes'. He is my favorite because he still pursued a man who shot and killed one of his fellow officers. He didn't even give up the fight after he himself was shot. He was also willing to do what was necessary, killing a man, in order to keep the peace even though it was probably hard on his conscience. I'd like to say that I would risk my life for someone, but I could never know that until I am put into that position. No one can know for sure until they are tested in reality. Kayla Winters
ReplyDeleteI think when hero's save lives they don't think about "oh I might get hurt" . . . I think they see someone in trouble and jump in without thinking of the consequences that could happen to them. They see a need and it's part of their personality to try and help.
ReplyDeleteI think many of you would be surprised at how you would respond . . . you may risk your life without thinking about it. Often times when "hero's" are interviewed, they say "anyone would have done the same", they don't think of themselves as hero's. Mrs. Lang
Out of all of them Ken Lambert's story was the best story. Someone that has medical problems and still works is a real inspioring person.
ReplyDeleteJosh McMillan
I agree with Brenden in the fact that I wouldn't risk my life for a stranger but would most likely risk my life for someone I love. Kayla Winters
ReplyDeleteI agree with Mrs. Lang in her saying that often heroes don't think of themselves as heroes. I also agree with her in the fact that heroes don't think about getting hurt or risking their life when they save someone. Perhaps adrenaline is the reason for this or perhaps it’s something more. Kayla Winters
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kierstyn. All of the other stories are impressive, as any hero story would be, but stories of molestation and rapes are disgusting and I don't understand what goes through those people's minds. I can see myself risking my life for somebody I love, but not so much a stranger.
